Pill Minder is an Android app that reminds you to take your medication. This policy explains
what it stores, what leaves your device, and what does not.

The short version
Your medication information stays on your phone. It is never uploaded to us, never sold, and
never used to target advertising. The app has no accounts, no logins, and no analytics.
The app does show one banner advertisement, which is the only part that communicates with the
internet. You can remove it with a one-time purchase.
What the app stores on your device
Pill Minder keeps the following in a database on your phone:
- The name you give each medication
- The reminder interval, in hours
- Any instructions you type
- The date and time of each dose you record
- The date a medication was added
- Your preferences for whether backup and spoken reminders are turned on
There are no user accounts. This information is not transmitted to the developer and there is
no server holding a copy of it.
Advertising
Pill Minder shows a single banner advertisement on the medications screen, provided by
Google AdMob. To show an ad, the AdMob software receives a standard advertising request
that includes your device’s advertising identifier along with technical information such as
device type, operating system version, and approximate region derived from your IP address.
Two things are worth being explicit about:
- Your medication information is never sent to AdMob and is never used to select or target
ads. The names, intervals, instructions and dose times you enter are not shared with the ad
network in any form. - Ads are requested as non-personalized. Health is a sensitive category for advertising
personalization, so the app opts out of personalized advertising rather than relying on that
boundary.
Google’s handling of advertising data is described in its own privacy policy at
https://policies.google.com/privacy and in Google’s advertising disclosures at
https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for
your advertising consent the first time it runs, and you can change your choice at any time
from Settings → Ad privacy options.
Removing ads
Ads can be removed with a one-time in-app purchase processed by Google Play Billing. The
purchase is handled entirely by Google Play; the app never sees your payment details. Whether
you own the purchase is read from Google Play’s own records rather than stored by the app,
which is why it restores automatically if you reinstall or change device.
Spoken reminders
When a dose is due, the app can speak the medication’s name aloud using the text-to-speech
engine installed on your device. This means the medication name is passed to that
text-to-speech software, which is a separate component of your phone and not part of Pill
Minder. Most devices synthesize speech on-device; if you have installed a text-to-speech
engine that uses a network service, that engine’s own privacy policy governs what it does with
the text.
You can turn this off entirely under Settings → Speak reminders aloud. With it off,
nothing is spoken and no medication name is handed to any text-to-speech engine. You still
receive a notification for every dose.
Backup
Android can copy app data to your Google account and to a new device when you transfer.
In Pill Minder this is turned off by default. Your medications and dose history are not
included in any backup unless you turn on Settings → Back up my medication data. If you do
turn it on, the database is handled by Android’s own backup system under your Google account,
and Google’s privacy policy applies to it. You can turn it off again at any time.
Notifications
The app posts local notifications to remind you about doses. These are generated on your
device and are not sent through any server.
What the app does not do
- No user accounts or sign-in
- No analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking
- No location access
- No access to contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone
- No selling or sharing of personal information with anyone other than as described above for
advertising - No health data shared with any third party
Children
Pill Minder is not directed to children and is not designed for use by children.
Your choices and rights
- See or change your data: everything the app stores is visible in the app itself.
- Delete your data: deleting a medication removes it and its dose history immediately.
Uninstalling the app removes the entire database from your device. - Advertising consent: where a consent form applies, change it under Settings → Ad
privacy options. - Advertising identifier: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device’s
Android settings, under Privacy or Ads. - Backup: turn it on or off under Settings at any time.
- Spoken reminders: turn them on or off under Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information.
Because the app holds no copy of your data on any server, requests to access, correct or
delete data can be satisfied directly in the app or by uninstalling it. For anything else,
contact the address at the top of this policy.
Medical disclaimer
Pill Minder is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical
condition. Consult a healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change and the current version will
be published at the same address. Material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
